Year Founded
University of St Andrews was founded by a charter issued by Bishop Henry Wardlaw.
The university was restructured and expanded by Archbishop James Beaton, who also established St Mary's College.
St Salvator’s and St Leonard’s colleges were joined to create the United College.
The University of St Andrews Students Union was founded.
The Royal Naval College, Osborne was transferred to St Andrews by the Admiralty to form The University of St Andrews Naval Training Division.
The university's School of Management was renamed the School of Management and Languages after merging with the Faculty of Modern Languages.
